Winter at the Kitzbüheler Alps

Westendorf is a very special place in the SkiWelt. For many years, the ski area between Choralpe and Brechhorn was considered a secret, known only to insiders. Today, Westendorf is one of the most popular resorts in the SkiWelt. It offers many slopes for connoisseurs and experts, the Boarders Playground, one of the most exciting fun parks in the SkiWelt, a spacious ‘beginner's area’ in the valley and a large number of slopes for beginners and families. And two more highlights: one of the longest and the steepest slopes in the SkiWelt. Westendorf also offers a connection to the opposite side of the Brixen valley (and to the SkiWelt) via the Kandler downhill ski run and to the Kirchberg-Kitzbühel ski area (regular bus shuttle service).

Advanced

For advanced skiers, the pistes of Westendorf are full of challenges. Courage and skills are prerequisites for the steepest slope in the whole SkiWelt, the black piste 112 over the western slope from the Choralpe: with a gradient of 80 percent, this piste is definitely not suitable for beginners... One of the longest and most beautiful slopes also starts from the Choralpe: the Kandler downhill run (no. 11) to Brixen. The many terrain crossings and steep passages require a good level of fitness. If you are looking for the ultimate skiing experience, you can choose from no fewer than four valley descents in Westendorf - one even more beautiful than the other. 

Beginners

Westendorf also offers numerous possibilities for beginners. Due to the large number of ski trails and flatter pistes, inexperienced winter enthusiasts can enjoy themselves without stress. The 111 and 113 pistes are easy and at the same time beautiful panorama descents into the valley.

Families and children

The practice slope with SkiWelt connection is a beginner's and children's ski area right in the centre of the village. This family-friendly environment is continued over several easy descents on the mountain. Westendorf is also an excellent choice for family winter holidays. A particular highlight is the Laubkogel with its saucer lift - here, even the smallest skiers can feel big and admire the mountain world from above.

Cross-country skiers will also get their money's worth in the  SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental . In total, there are 148.2 kilometres of excellently prepared cross-country trails.
Highlight: 2.2 kilometres long high-altitude ski trail in SkiWelt Brixen

Ski bus timetable: the SkiWelt ski buses are free for skiers in skiwear and with a valid ski pass!

Accessible on the mountain via the Skiwelt lifts.

Enjoy the enchanting winter landscape in the mountains, watch the skiers on the slopes and feast on tasty Tyrolean dishes in the many huts and mountain restaurants in the Kitzbühel Alps... the winter hiking trails in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental  are comfortably accessible by lift.

Of course, an afternoon or evening of bobbing should not be missed during your winter holidays.

Bobbing is part of every winter holiday - its the cherry on top.

Bobbing is a winter sport for all ages, both during the day and in the evening.

The route totals 7.5 kilometres and is a great outing for all ages. And it is also one of the longest courses in the region. It starts on top of the mountain at the Talkaser mountain restaurant at an altitude of 1,770 metres. Take the Alpenrosenbahn and go down at great speeds!

What to do in Westendorf? Snowshoe hiking is very popular in Westendorf and therefore highly recommended. Go on a hike when there is a lot of snow in the village, that’s when this activity is the most fun. During the hike, the guide will take you to special places in Westendorf and allow you to set the first tracks yourself. Ask for more information at the local tourist office as there are even free guides that will take you to beautiful places.

Après-ski in Westendorf

There are several après-ski tents in Westendorf where Dutch sing-alongs reverberate through the speakers until the late hours. Since this year, our Bergtraum has opened. During the day a cosy restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal and around 16.00 the place to be for après-ski. If the sun is shining, you can enjoy the lovely sunshine all day long.

 Pure action and fun for everyone, from beginners to advanced skiers.

BIG PLAYGROUND SNOWPARK Westendorf
The BIG PLAYGROUND Snowpark Westendorf is located at the Gampenkogel lift in Westendorf - in the heart of SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser- Brixental. Our snow park can be distinguished by its size and length, sunny location and daily maintenance.
It is the meeting point of the local freestyle scene and the venue for numerous first-class events.
Super-Cross Line (Snake-Run/ Banked Slalom) is for all skill levels. The Jump and Jib Line still has a light to medium boom and jump line, and the Easy Line is for those who want to take it easy!

MINI PLAYGROUND SKIWELT WESTENDORF

Location: practice field

The ‘MINI PLAYGROUND©’ is located at the practice field in the valley. This family amusement park is designed for beginners and small skiers. It’s fun for the whole family and perfect to start with.

The white village is located at the mountain station in Hochbrixen and is therefore also perfectly accessible for non-skiers.

The ALPENIGLU village is an adventurous world with many activities.
At the centre, naturally, is the substance of which winter dreams are made: ice! Cool drinks from ice glasses and the highlight of the ice art exhibition ICE LAND: here, handmade ice sculptures by international artists are exhibited and showcased beautifully with high-tech lighting. 

Explore the mountains on horseback.

Horse riding lessons are also offered. You can ride all year round at the ​Elfmeters Hof in Westendorf and the Weberhof in Brixen im Thale. In the summer also at the Haflingerhof in Westendorf.

Ice skating is a welcome leisure activity that perfectly combines fun and nature. There is an ice rink in Westendorf. It is located right in the centre of the village. If you do not have any skating equipment, you can rent it conveniently on site.
